Chapter 1

Towards the end of the 1970s, the Evangelical Christian Church of Modena, located at that time in Via Peretti, decided to create a private radio with the aim of making known the message of salvation in Christ and the values of the evangelical faith. Thus, on 20 December 1977, in an attic on the 5th floor of a building in Modena, Radio Risposta began its FM broadcasts, with just 100 Watts of power.

At the time, private radio stations were few and the airwaves less crowded than they are now. The signal of Radio Risposta reached a large part of the provinces of Modena, Bologna, Reggio Emilia, Mantova and Verona, reaching up to the slopes of the Alps. The schedule initially included a few hours of programming, repeated several times throughout the day, but the enthusiasm, commitment and motivation of the collaborators were more than evident.

In a short time, many other private radio stations sprang up almost everywhere, crowding the airwaves and interfering with each other. However, in the absence of any regulation on the matter, the law of the strongest was in force. To cope with the new situation and not succumb, Radio Risposta strengthened its signal to 500 Watts and moved the transmitter to the mountains, to Faeto, near Serramazzoni. Soon even this was not enough and from 500 Watts it was moved to 1000 and then to 2000, in order to cover the desired area. The management of the radio became more demanding every day in terms of qualified personnel, financial resources and use of equipment.

Chapter 2

Aware of all this and to give continuity and future to the radio station, in 1984 the Evangelical Church of Modena handed over the complete management and responsibility of the radio to Voce della Bibbia (from which it had received collaboration from the beginning). Finally, in 1990, the Mammì Law on private broadcasting came into force and on 22 August of the same year Radio Risposta was established as a “Non-Profit Association” in order to obtain the regular concession to broadcast.

At the dawn of its 30th birthday, the 30th October 2007, above all due to the economic needs of the organization Back to the Bible, on which Voce della Bibbia depended, Radio Risposta ceased its FM broadcasts.

At this point, however, the Evangelical Christian Church of Modena which, in collaboration with CEM (Centro Evangelico Modenese), undertakes to try to write the third chapter.

Chapter 3

Technology has made enormous strides in recent years. What was unimaginable just a few years ago is now possible. So on 31 December 2007, from the ashes of Radio Risposta FM, Radio Risposta Web was born.

Radio Risposta is therefore still “on the air”, no longer on FM, but on the internet. Its potential audience is no longer the local area, but the entire world.

From 1977 to today, many things have changed; the programming has changed, the sound has changed, dozens and dozens of radio hosts have followed one another, the technology used by Radio Risposta to be heard has changed, but not its objective and the reason why it was born; that is, to promote and make known to its listeners the message of salvation and transformation of man through the Lord Jesus Christ.
